Ashley Holzer Named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for February

Ottawa, ON --- Three-time Canadian Olympian Ashley Holzer of Toronto, ON has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for February.

Holzer and her 2008 Olympic partner Pop Art finished in fourth place in both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle tests at the $145,000 CDI 5* Exquis World Dressage Masters. The competition was held February 4–6, 2010 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, in Wellington, FL, USA.

Holzer and Pop Art (Amsterdam x Cabochon), a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Rusty Holzer and Moreen Nicoll, earned a score of 72.468% in the Grand Prix test. The pair was just 0.085% behind the third place finisher, 2008 Olympic individual silver medalist Isabel Werth of Germany, riding her Olympic mount Satchmo 78 to a score of 72.553%.

Two days later the Holzer and Pop Art earned a fantastic score of 76.300% for fourth place in the Grand Prix Freestyle test.

Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in national and international competition at the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horses classes.
